Symphony at the Gardens
Name: Symphony at the GardensDate: August 11, 2024Time: 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM PDTEvent Description:Symphony of the Redwoods is proud to present a set of outdoor concerts at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens. At noon, the Mendocino Woodwind Quintet will perform chamber music written for the woodwind quintet in a lighthearted way. Then at 2:30 pm, Bob Ayre's Big Band will present a selection of swinging tunes from the 1930's and onward. Beverages and light snacks will also be available at concession tables. The concerts will be professionally mic-d to enhance the outdoor music listening experience. There will be a limited amount of chairs available on a first-come-first-served basis and plenty of opportunities to spread out on the grass while listening to this great music. Mendocino Woodwind Quintet, 12:00PM Kathleen Reynolds, flute; Beth Aiken, oboe; Eric Kritz, clarinet; Randy Masselink, french horn; and Eva von Bahr, bassoon, will present a delightful program of light and engaging music ranging from J. Haydn to S. Joplin and others fitting for a summer afternoon in the Gardens. Come ready to hear the best of chamber music written for the woodwind quintet in a lighthearted way. Bob Ayre's Big Band, 2:30PM Bob Ayre's Big Band (previously known as Boonville Big Band) will present a selection of swinging tunes from the 1930's and onward. This long-time coastal Big Band will put a smile on your face and a tap in your feet.
